Communication can be difficult, even on a good day. Because we say ‘yes’ when we mean ‘no’ and the other way around. And sometimes, a word just doesn’t mean what you think it means.
I was going on an adventure. Leaving my small hometown in Sweden for the great metropolis of Berlin, Germany. By myself. As in, I came up with the idea, I planned the trip, I made all the arrangements.
Frasier Crane would say “I’m listening” and pretty much not. Do you feel like that’s happening around you? How do we listen to actually hear others, making them feel understood?
She looked around the room and asked, loud enough so everyone would hear: “Does anyone here know Berlin?”
Our lives don’t play out in isolation. We each have people who are crucial at various points in our lives. Meet a few of mine.
Recently I discovered that “cosmopolitan” apparently is a bad word to some people. Silly me, I always thought a cosmopolitan person was someone who’d been places, different cities, different cultures, different countries and who moved with ease in them all.
When I grew up, long before the internet and Facebook, pre-teens and teens were encouraged to have pen pals.
Making sense. Sorting it out. Living.
We’re on this journey called life and get to figure it out as we go along. Looking at Life, Faith, Stuff and how they interact in the crossroads of life.
